Birthday Beauty Haul

Oh mercy. Birthday money.

Naturally I took to the interwebs and did some homework on some of the best and brightest of 2016, and on a few products that I actually need (really…sunscreen is a necessity) and I’m super stoked to share with you all what I’ve picked up!

Let me first say this: never have I ever purchased beauty products online. Ever. I am totally a hands on gal when it comes to my beauty stuff (hallelujah to my background with Sephora) and let’s be real…shades look so much different online and it’s a super tedious and tricky process. However, the goddesses at Allure magazine convinced me that there were a few things I absolutely needed, and the vibes of “trust us, you’ll love these” rang loudly, so what the hell.

*Avène Broad Spectrum Ultra-Light SPF 50 sunscreen > I am super picky when it comes to sunscreen because I have to be ever cognizant of my oily, sensitive and sometimes acne prone skin. I’ve used other thermal spring water skin care brands in the past (I’m a staunch believer in the skin healing abilities of thermal water) but this line is new for me. Get whatever misgivings about sunscreen out of your head. One, because it’s necessary; two, this sunscreen is super light weight, non-comedogenic (meaning, it won’t clog your pores), fragrance free, paraben free, oil-free, and cruelty- free.

*Covergirl The Super Sizer Fibers mascara in 800 – Very Black > I’m always in the market for a mascara it seems, as I’m a firm believer in “mascara wardrobing.” (Yes, that’s a thing.) Truth, I typically run a mile in the other direction when it comes to fiber mascaras because they wreak havoc on my eyes, but this one had me curious enough to buy it in lieu of paying for shipping because, duh…if I spend five bucks more for a product to get free shipping, versus paying for shipping…well, yeah. This logic summons chuckles I’m sure, but hey. I’m no dummy. I’ll post an update later on how this works for me.

Oh, heavens to Betsy. When it comes to beauty, Target gets me. Right in the heart. Target has always been my destination for what’s new and fabulous for mass market beauty. Cruising the beauty section on Target.com was about as satisfying as strolling through the aisles. Now on to the haul…

*Pixi SkinTreats Glow Tonic > This has been on my beauty bucket list for ages because of the rave reviews its gotten. Not to mention, glycolic acid is my JAM. There’s 5% of that wonder acid in this tonic, along with ginseng and aloe. I’ll post a review on this after I have had an opportunity to use this for a few weeks.

*L’Oréal La Palette Nude Intense > Real talk; I’m a total snob when it comes to eyeshadow. Since discovering Urban Decay years and years ago, I’ve rarely branched out, but these palettes have gotten rave reviews all year long (and from a few of my beauty junkie friends) and figured I’d give it a whirl!

*Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter – Dark Spot Corrector > Oh, the dreaded dark spots that have graced me with their presence. I’ve read fantastic reviews on this, so I’ll keep you all posted!

*Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso > This blush is so damn pretty that it had to have its own photo. I know I’ll be reaching for this more than my higher end blushes (and hello, doesn’t this color look strikingly similar to a cult-favorite that costs three times as much? Mhm.)

*Burt’s Bees Lipstick > 100% natural ingredients; made with Moringa Oil, derived from a drought-resistant tree in tropical regions and Red Raspberry Seed Oil, known for containing high levels of essential fatty acids. I snagged the shade Sunset Cruise, a fantastic daytime shade.

I look forward to sharing my experiences with these new products in a later post!
